Fantasy and Song (1984) is a short, lyric work for solo piano that formally divides into two sections. During the introductory fantasy, the lyric piano line never quite gets going because it constantly dissolves into angular outbursts. After several flurries of sound, the lyric line finally emerges and presents the song. Although this work sounds relatively simple, it requires finesse and dexterity both in the fast passages and as the lyric line passes from one hand to the other.
